As August winds down, we reflect on this summer of '16. It's been a great one with some great gigs! But now, we will be FINALLY hunkering down and recording this next album! We've got 5 of 6 songs ready to go and with a little more work, song 6 will get the green light as well! Stay tuned, NOWAKE Nation!

Here are the highlights in a nutshell:
We rocked Boonville, MO last month! We introduced some new merchandise on our online store. Visit it here - http://www.zazzle.com/nowake_online_store We are still working on polishing off our new music before entering the studio. Songs like "Redline" and "Midway" are guaranteed to make the album! We'll be traveling to Marceline, MO and Bowling Green, MO in August to bring our brand of rock to new people! Check out the "Shows" page to get more info. See you all soon, Your friendly, neighborhood rock-n-rollers To make a quick update even quicker, Sean is back on the grid officially (after a few weeks wandering around the state of MO) and the band is still writing new songs for the album and booking some shows in new areas! Check out our "Shows" tab to see where we'll be. We've got the hookup for your summer merchandise needs as well, of course. From t-shirts to coozies, hit us up for some quality stuff all while supporting the band! Coozies are one for $3 or two for $5 All shirts are $15 (Currently have all sizes available in the gray American Flag design and various sizes available in other remaining designs) Whoa. Did we just hit fast forward into March? Pretty sure this year just started and now we're warming up to the 70's and talking summer gigs and whatnot.
So we're coming off a few great shows here as of late - The American Legion show with George Cate and the ONE show with Flatfoot Reed. Both were great shows. We love hanging out with George. He's an incredible artist. And this Saturday night's show at ONE was a blast as well. Those guys from FFR really bring it! Their dedication to ONLY play original music live is quite commendable. I think we would love to get to that point sometime to where we aren't cranking out an 80/20 mix of cover songs to original songs. But, there is definitely something to say about having a room full of people singing along with a cover tune. That just feels great! So now what? We have nothing "official" on the books until May. What's in May you ask? Well, just one of the greatest outdoor shows we are privileged to be a part of every year, that's all! We can't wait to hit the stage at Epic Music Showcase '16 not only because it's ALWAYS a great time, but we get to play alongside the one and only American Hitmen! We are stoked! Also playing that day are local acoustic greats Zeke Cernea and Liz Bentley. The day is going to be a total blast and we can't wait! So, there might be a surprise show or two between now and then, but we will be continuing the music writing process for sure. We are in talks with possible recording locations and are excited about the music we'll be putting on the follow up EP to the May '14 release of Getaway. Stay tuned, folks! 2016 is here. We have been "off the grid" so to speak for a little while working on new music. Trying to put all of our musical ideas into each song is king of like wrangling cats at times. So many ideas! We're proud to say that we'll be unveiling a brand new original this Saturday at The State Room in Quincy, IL! There's just something about playing an original song for the first time for an audience. It's kind of indescribable, really. Sometimes, you think it'll be a trainwreck and it blows people's minds. Sometimes, you just know it'll be their new favorite songs and it sinks like the Titanic. You just never know.
Other news includes the merch sale that we're running right now. All in stock shirts are just $12! And when we say all, we mean all. We've got short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, long sleeve, etc. Limited sizes remain so message us, email us, or catch us at a show to get yours! See below to view some of the remaining designs. We're currently filling the books with shows for the year. So far, we've got shows in Quincy, IL, Hannibal, MO, and a Boonville, MO festival as well. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces out there as well as making some new friends! Here's to a great year, everyone! -NOWAKE We played at the Loose Brick Bar Saturday night and let us tell you, the folks in Shelbina know how to party! There was a great crowd and we had a blast! Thanks for having us and we hope to do it again soon! Now, on to the future. We will be taking some time in the coming months to work on music for the upcoming album. With that being said, if the right gig opportunity came about, we would definitely consider it! But, we need some time to clear our heads and write what should be some good rock 'n roll music as only we know how! We want to incorporate the ideas and emotions we've experience since the release of Getaway back in May of '14. We've had some great times and positive experiences as well as some pretty low emotional times as well. We'll be sorting through all this and finding ways to write some riffs so that the next album will... well ROCK! Please stay tuned for updates and if you're needing a band in the meantime, don't forget to get a hold of us as it might not be impossible to talk us into leaving HQ for a gig or two!
Thanks! NOWAKE "Failure is not the opposite of success. It's part of success."For those that follow us closely, you may have noticed that we fell short of meeting our Kickstarter goal earlier this month. At first, it's easy to doubt ourselves and question whether we should pursue our next album. But, after much discussion, it became obvious that we must move forward stronger than ever. We understand that people probably had a hard time donating to something that they cannot see or touch until it is completed, produced, and distributed. We also reminded ourselves that we do not write and record music to get rich. So, something like a Kickstarter puts a dollar sign on our dream of creating a follow-up album to Getaway. We write and record for ourselves in hopes of others connecting to the music in their own way.
With that being said, we will continue to write music as only we know how and will set a benchmark to be in a studio sometime this winter. It should also be mentioned that tragedy reared it's ugly head earlier this month. Any time death touches a musician's life, one of the natural ways to deal with it is to put it into music. These raw emotions will only help to fuel new music and contrast other music that will appear on the next album. We already had two working songs being sharpened for album. On a much lighter note, we got to play two shows in one day last Saturday! First, we played at the Mighty Mudder After Party at the POPs Club south of Hannibal, MO. After that, we headed east to the area of Coatsburg, IL for a private party. We got to meet some great people and played our hearts out for a surprise 30th wedding anniversary. We had a crazy good day and the weather was spectacular! We have officially launched our Kickstarter campaign to raise money for our second studio album! You can become a part of this next album by pledging anywhere from $10 to over $100 by clicking on the Kickstarter link below. We feel so honored to have such an amazing online fanbase that we feel that this campaign is well within our capabilities to record and produce an amazing sophomore album! So, please take a minute or two and check out the Kickstarter page and help support if you feel like becoming a part of our rock 'n roll history!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1788588216/nowake-studio-album-2 Thank You All!!! Mark, Ben, AJ, and Sean We just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Third Annual Epic Music Showcase! We had such a great time and were genuinely honored to be able to play that show three straight years! Some amazing sponsors helped to make it happen and we had a really good time hanging out and listening to the other musicians!
Now, for the future! We'll be rocking Clemens Field on July 18th following the Cavemen VS Sliders game. We had a blast the last time we were able to do this (even though the weather tried it's best to put a damper on the evening)! So, be sure to catch a great game and some rock 'n roll for desert! On July 25th we get to play at the Mark Twain Lake's hottest venues! We'll be bringing the rock back to Party Cove MTL that evening. It's an amazing place and is close to camping, the lake, the Landing water park, and many other lodging options! You really can't lose! Let's pack the house that night! We're currently working on some new original and cover songs for our upcoming shows. And, with a little luck and a lot of hard work, we'll be discussing a new studio album in the near future as well!!! So stay tuned for updates on the new NOWAKE studio efforts. Also, we've got the new line of NOWAKE #merica Tshirts! They're $15 and are available at all live shows or by contacting us directly (see the "contact" section). If you've visited our official online store, you'll see the "online version" available on there as well and it is similar to the ones we'll be selling in person. Oh, and we've officially sold out of our CD versions of the Getaway album! Just over a year since it's release and all 300+ copies are GONE! A few gracious local stores may still have CDs for sale (Hard Times Tattoo in Hannibal, MO, Second String Music and Time to Play Music in Quincy, IL) but you can ALWAYS download it at iTunes, CDbaby.com, AmazonMP3, etc... Just click the "merch" section for more info! Once again THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT and hang on because the rest of 2015 promises to be a wild ride! |
